Right Shoulder discomfort in a 14-year-old female softball pitcher and Outcome Assessments through Chiropractic Care

A 14-year-old female softball pitcher presented to the office with intermittent moderate pain in her right shoulder for approximately three months. She stated she had been actively pitching at softball since age eight and reported no recent or previous trauma or injury to the affected shoulder. She stated her pain is located at the base of her neck (cervicothoracic region) into the lateral aspect of her right shoulder, with occasional paresthesia in her right arm. The patient described her discomfort as deep, aching, and tight. She reported that her pain was hard to ignore. She noted that her pain worsened with physical activity, especially during softball games and when she was lying down on her right shoulder, impacting her sleep ability. The patient reported that cold packs, rest, and stretching helped to relieve her right shoulder symptomatology. She mentioned that her orthopedic physician conducted x-rays of her right shoulder that were normal and prescribed Naproxen; however, she has not found relief from her right shoulder symptomatology with this medication.
